Saildrone Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Saildrone, Inc. and its affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively, “Saildrone”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in connection with our websites, customer portals, and other online services that link to this Privacy Policy, and our sales, marketing, events, and customer relationship activities (collectively, our “Services”).

1. Scope and Data Controller

This Privacy Policy applies to the personal information we collect when you use our websites or otherwise interact with us via our websites, and to personal information we collect online and offline about our business contacts, including representatives of our current and prospective customers, partners, and suppliers. This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal information we process on behalf of our customers in providing our products and services, which is governed by our agreements with those customers, or to personal information about our employees and job applicants, which is covered by separate notices. Saildrone Inc. in the United States is the entity responsible for the personal information and is the data controller of data collected from the saildrone.com website. Saildrone Denmark ApS is the data controller and responsible for the data collected from the saildrone.eu and saildrone.dk websites.

Information we collect from you may be transferred to, stored, and processed by us, our affiliates, and other third parties in countries outside the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, including, but not limited to, the United States and other countries, where data protection and privacy regulations may not offer the same level of protection as in other parts of the world. Transfers of personal data from Saildrone Denmark ApS to our US entity, Saildrone Inc., are covered under an Intra Group Data Transfer Agreement. For transfers of personal information from the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland to third countries, we will transfer personal information according to the requirements of applicable data protection legislation by putting in place appropriate safeguards, including by entering into European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.

Depending on where you live and the local data protection laws, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include the following:

  • Right of Access: You can request confirmation of whether we process your personal information and obtain a copy of it.
  • Right to Rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.

  • Right to Restriction: You can request that we restrict processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11. Information for CA Residents

This section applies to California consumers and describes how we collect, use, and share the personal information of California consumers who visit our websites or otherwise interact with us, as well as their rights with respect to that personal information.

How We Collect, Use, and Share Your Personal Information

The business and commercial purposes for which we collect this information are described in Section 3 of this Privacy Policy, and the categories of third parties to whom we “disclose” the information for a business purpose, including the advertising partners with whom we “share” it, are described in Section 5 of this Privacy Policy. Over the past twelve (12) months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers, such as your name, email address, phone number, company name, device identifier, IP address, unique browser ID, cookies, beacons, pixel tags, account login, and other unique identifiers;

  • You may request for us to disclose the purposes for which we use the personal information.
  • You may request the categories of sources from which we have collected personal information.
  • You may request that we delete certain personal information we have collected from you.
  • You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • You have a right not to receive discriminatory treatment for the exercise of your privacy rights.
  • California consumers have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information. We do not sell your personal information. We may “share” personal information, such as identifiers and internet or network information, with third-party advertising partners through Advertising Cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising, as described in Section 6. You can opt out of this sharing by clicking the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link on our websites, adjusting your preferences in our cookie banner, or enabling GPC in your browser. We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

Exercising Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California consumer seeking to exercise your rights, or if you are an authorized agent wishing to exercise CCPA rights on behalf of someone else, please email us at privacysupport@saildrone.com.  We will respond to verifiable requests received as required by law. We will verify your or your authorized agent’s identity to protect your personal information.

12. Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not aimed at or intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect children’s data. If we learn we have collected personal information from a minor under 13, we will delete it promptly.

13. Third-party Links

Our websites may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins, and applications. Clicking on those links may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy practices.

14. Privacy Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy as data protection laws or our services change. We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top when we do.
